Dankook University Hospital (단국대학교병원)

This is the best and biggest hospital in Cheonan and for anything serious, this should be the place you go. The American military gets people treated here so they're used to working with foreigners and most people speak at least a bit of English. They have an international clinic for general stuff, as well as more specialized clinics for feet, pain, obesity, etc. They do the full range of surgeries as well. But prices are not cheap like the little neighborhood clinics, it's about 15 000 Won for a basic consultation. Here's the website. Here's the link with important phone numbers.

I recently got a complete checkup done there for about 400 000 Won and was extremely satisfied with the service. Very well organized and comprehensive. It was outrageously cheap for the amount of tests that were done. Here's the site for that.

Pharmacy

I recently found a nice, new one, with a pharmacist who is kind and speaks excellent English. It's called Onnuri Pharmacy (in Korean). It's located kitty/katty (for you Americans!) corner from the coffee bean downtown, next to the OZ phone store and a Gimbap restaurant. Across from the moon tower and a Nonghyup Bank.

English Speaking Dentist

There is a good (honest!) dentist in Ssang-yong Dong. She speaks slow, yet very decent English. The clinic is called Moon Dental Clinic and it's located near the Nazarene University front gate. It's basically 1/2 way between Lotte Mart and the front gate, next to the Post Office, above the Kooma Fusion Bar and kind of across from Mcdonalds.

Nice clinic with two General Practioners. Dr. Ko Mi-Hye (oah0731@unitel.co.kr ) is fluent in English and she has a nice manner.

Located near Ssangyong Lottemart. Walk down the street towards McDonald's. Ssangyong Medical Clinic 쌍용메디컬의원 is on the second floor. Look up for the sign.

March 2009 update: this place is still open and has an English speaking doctor.

Yeil Hospital (예일병원)

Located in Ssangyong-dong between E-mart and Carrefour. If you have a pain in the butt (literally) you should see the self proclaimed "Butt hole Doctor" (똥꼬의사) Dr. Nam Ho-tak (남호탁.) He has a great sense of humour and speaks English. This hospital specializes in colon disorders and hemorrhoid problems.

Hours are Mon.-Fri 9 to 6. Sat. 9-1. Tel: 041-571-7000 Press extension # 180 to speak to Mrs. Doh the head nurse.

Myung Eye Clinic (명안과)

Ewha Women's Hospital (이화여성병원)
